What are the best gifts for a plus size woman? Not clothes. I can tell you from experience that having someone else try to buy clothes for me (a plus size woman) doesn't go well. If the clothes are too small, it's embarrassing. If the clothes are too big, you wonder just how big the gift-giver thinks you are. It's a lose-lose proposition!
If you need to buy a gift for a plus size woman — girlfriend, wife, friend, whomever — I've got 10 fantastic ideas. She'll be gobsmacked by your gift, because you put thought and heart into your choice. And she won't have to worry about returning ill-fitting clothes. Here are my top 10 gifts for a plus size woman.
Don't forget Amazon‘s holiday dash, shop epic deals daily.

#10 Subscriptions
Why give just one gift now, when you can keep giving her gifts every month? Enter subscriptions. Every woman I know *loves* subscriptions, because they bring a lil' bit o' sunshine every month. There are a few different subscriptions you could give her.
Subscription Boxes – Subscription boxes are so fun. There's a surprise every month. And there are so many to choose from, you're bound to find a theme that she's passionate about. Plus, you don't *have* to get her a whole year of a subscription. Plenty of shops let you order just one or just three months; they can be flexible.
Cratejoy is the best place to find quality subscription boxes. It's an easy-to-use directory that you can browse if you don't have a clue, or search for a specific kind of box.
For plus size nerds, I highly recommend these subscription boxes: Accio Box (for Harry Potter fans); Hero Box (for superhero fans); Introverts Retreat (for quality me-time); My Thrill Club (for horror and mystery fans); Salty & Lit (for Harry Potter and candle lovers); SpearCraft Book Box (for book lovers).
Audible – I don't know what I would do without Audible. Literally. Audible makes my life so much more pleasurable. It's what I listen to when I'm driving (even short trips), when I'm cleaning (which I hate) and when I'm cooking (which I also dislike). Thanks to Audible, my mind can be soothed by countless books during these thankless tasks. My mom gets me a subscription every year and it's the perfect gift.
Kindle Unlimited – If she's a book lover, Kindle Unlimited will make her swoon. She can read book after book without paying for it every single time. Kindle Unlimited has more than 1 million titles, so you know she'll find lots of books to love. And it's a great way to read genre books, like curvy romance, or shifter romance, or paranormal romance. (See where my mind is these days?)
#9 Jewelry
Jewelry always makes the best gifts. Just like prop replicas, there was a time not too long ago that you had to go to a comic con or renaissance faire to find nerdy jewelry. Not anymore! Mostly thanks to the creative makers on Etsy. You can find necklaces, bracelets and earrings for ANY fan: Disney, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Wonder Woman, Captain America, etc.
My only piece of advice about jewelry is stay away from rings unless you know her ring size. It's no fun to get a piece of jewelry you can't wear.
Oh, wait. That reminds me. Here's my second piece of advice: Make sure she has pierced ears before you buy her earrings for pierced ears. I speak from experience.
#8 Games
Board games. Card games. Video games. Retro games. You name it, someone makes it. Amazon has just about every game you can think of. If there's something you've got your eye on, you can put it in your cart and save it for later. Then Amazon will notify you if the price drops.
Amazon Prime is a fantastic gift for video gamers because they have special Twitch offers and member deals. Sign her up and she'll have access to special loot and exclusive content.
If she's a big fan of Animal Cross (um, who isn't) then you should definitely check out Hot Topic's amazing Animal Crossing merch. They've got everything from patches to handbags to notebooks to mugs.
#7 Handbags
Every nerd I know cannot have enough nerdy handbags, so they make the best gifts. (Check out my YouTube video of all my Harry Potter and Wonder Woman bags for inspiration.) Lucky for you, there are a gazillion out there, so you're sure to find something she'll love.
Handbags can be wallet-sized, crossbody bags, backpacks or a traditional handbag. You can find handbags for every fandom, like Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel, DC, Doctor Who and many more.
Two of the best brands for nerdy handbags are Loungefly and Bioworld. (They're my go-to brands.) But don't let that stop you from buying a geek bag that looks awesome and has good reviews.
Why good reviews? Because looking awesome is only the secondary job of a nerdy handbag. It's first job is to hold stuff and last a long, long time. Make sure the material it's made of is quality, and the stitching is solid (not fraying already). She'll thank you for years to come.
#6 Socks
The beauty of giving your plus size woman socks is that they'll always fit. Socks are the new trendy accessory for nerds. They can represent any and all of your fandoms and make the best gifts.
Superheroes – If she loves Marvel and DC superheroes (and the villains who torment them), SuperHeroStuff should be your first stop for fun socks. They've got socks for everyone, including Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel and Harley Quinn.
Harry Potter – Amazon has Harry Potter socks for every house, every Quidditch team and every emblem you can think of. If she's a particular fan of Honeydukes, the official Warner Bros. shop has a collection of Honeydukes-themed socks that are the cutest things ever.
#5 Makeup
Here's another gift that always fits: makeup. And the more fun it is, the better. You can find nerd makeup for Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Barbie and other licensed properties, but don't limit yourself. Browse the hottest makeup gift sets to find a palette you know she'll love.
Here's another hot makeup item: glitter. I highly recommend Uniglitter for face and body. I have red and gold colors (I'm a Gryffindor) and I love them.
#4 Prop Replicas
If you've never drooled over the Noble Collection catalog, then you're not a nerd. But since you're on this blog, I'm guessing your woman is a (awesome) nerd. And she will go bonkers if you get her a prop replica from her favorite fandom. What is a prop replica? It's an object from a TV show or movie she loves. For instance, for my birthday, my family gave me the Triwzard Cup from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and I squealed like a teenager.
It used to be difficult to find prop replicas (hence, the catalog). Now, however, you can find a geeky corner of just about any store that has some kind of jewelry or prop.
Figure out what her favorite fandom is (Harry Potter, Star Wars, Wonder Woman, Doctor Who, etc.) and then go search an online store for a really cool item. You'll find things in every price range. The easiest place to start is, of course Amazon. Check out the variety of prop replicas Amazon has to offer.
If you're looking for something more unique, specialty stores are the way to go. My personal favorites are Entertainment Earth and Sideshow Collectibles. They carry beautiful and hard-to-find pieces.
#3 Home Decor
How someone decorates her house is a very personal thing. However, when it comes to buying nerd decor, if you know her favorite fandom, you're in the pink. Nothing can be simpler than buying a throw blanket, pillow, spoon rest, whatever, that represents something nerdy. (Cozy, warm blanket/robes make the best gifts.) Get something for the kitchen, the living room, the bedroom or the bathroom.
The quickest way to find nerd home decor is on either Amazon or Etsy. Etsy, especially, has unique, handmade items that will make her go “squee!”
#2 Travel
I know that 2020 (and probably 2021) aren't the best years to travel. BUT that doesn't mean you can't plan a safe getaway. (Trust me; every woman loves a getaway.)
Check Booking.com for incredible getaway packages. They're the most trusted travel site (and trust me, I've dealt with some crappy ones). Look for places that will appeal to her nerdy heart. Go to Washington, CT, the town that inspired Stars Hollow on Gilmore Girls. Or go to Salem, MA, and walk through all the filming locations for Hocus Pocus. Or visit Death Valley National Park where many of the Tatooine scenes were filmed for Star Wars movies.
Just make sure you follow CDC guidelines for safe travel.
#1 Boudoir Photo Shoot
Plus size women can be insecure about their looks, especially when they're in a relationship. Nothing will show her how HAWT you think she is than buying her a boudoir photo shoot. What is that? It's a professional photo shoot, starring your plus size woman, in intimate settings, usually wearing lingerie (or little of it).
Now, if your woman would be mortified by such an endeavor, I don't recommend this. But, if she loves dressing up, showing off for you, she will love a boudoir photo shoot.
No doubt, there are photographers in your area that do them. Start by Googling “boudoir photographer near me” or searching for “boudoir photography” in your area on Yelp. Make sure you read reviews before you book anything.
The Curvy Fashionista has a fantastic article on giving a boudoir photo shoot to your curvy woman. The photographer who wrote it shares advice and tips. Trust me; this gift will make her light up and feel spectacular.
